Kandiyoor




Kandiyoor is a small village in Alappuzha District of Kerala. The place boasts a scenic landscape, owing to its paddy fields and green vegetation of all kinds. It lies around 2 km from Mavelikara, on Mavelikara-Harippad road.

Kandiyoor was the place where the Travancore Raja gained vital victory over Kayamkulam Raja. The prime attraction is Kandiyoor Mahadeva Temple, which was erected by Cheraman Nayanar Perumal. The temple is widely acclaimed for the ancient inscriptions of archaeological importance and stone sculptures.

Chettikulangara Sree Bhagavathi Temple, Shri Subrahmanya Swami Temple and Sree Krishna Swami Temple are in the neighborhood.

Kandiyoor is about 23 km south of Thiruvalla and is 18 km from Kayamkulam. Mavelikara Railway Station is the closest railway station. Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport.
