Kandal




Kandal Village is situated near Kunhimangalam in Kannur District.

Blessed with Kandal forests, the village has set an unprecedented example in environment protection for the rest of the world to follow. The villagers of Kandal have united together to preserve the beauty of the landscape and to prevent the destruction of the forest. The nurturing Kandal forest holds rare kind of plants and is the home for a large number of immigrant birds. Today the forest has 45 kinds of Kandals (Mango trees).

The Pullankode River contains a wide variety of fishes and flows through this village, which adds to its beauty. National Highway 47 passes through Kunhimangalam. The nearest railway station is at Ezhimala and the airport is the Calicut Airport.
