Kandaghat




Kandaghat is a beautiful town situated on the Kalka- Shimla highway, at an altitude of 1425 m above the mean sea level, in Himachal Pradesh. The place assumed prominence after Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, the erstwhile ruler of the Patiala state, built the Chail View Palace here after being expelled from the summer capital of Shimla.

Places of tourist interest include the Chail View Palace (the present women’s polytechnic), 17th century Shiva temples, Karol ranges and Baba Thada Mulla.

Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation(HPTDC) Tourist Inn provides the best accommodation option in the town. Besides this, there are a number of reasonable inns and guesthouses available within town limits.

Nearest airport is the Jubbar Hatti. Kandaghat has a railway station. Regular buses connect this place with Chail (29 km), Kufri (43 km) and Shimla (61 km).
