Kanakeshwar Temple, 12 km from Alibag, is an old shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is situated on a small hill and is near Mapgaon.

The temple shows traits of Hoysala style of architecture. One has to climb 700 odd steps to reach the temple. In the middle of the hill is the Nagobacha Tappa (a place of snakes) and the famous step 'Devachi Payari'.
