Kanaka Durga Temple




Kanaka Durga temple, which houses the enchanting 4 ft high idol of Durga, is located at Vijayawada. The idol of Durga is in standing posture over the demon Mahishasura and is seen piercing him with her trident. The idol holds eight powerful weapons in eight hands and is decorated with glittering ornaments and bright flowers.

According to legend, the temple was constructed by Arjuna, the third of Pandavas. The major festivals celebrated in the temple are Shivratri, Dussehra and Vasantotsava.

Kanakadurga temple is well connected by public and private transport from Vijayawada bus station.
