Kamptee Temple




The Jain temple at Kamptee is noted for its architecture. The main idol of the temple is Bhagwan Suparshwanath. Bhagwan Mahavir in Khadgasam posture is also found here.

The noteworthy feature of the temple is the eight shikhar (summits) engravings on rock. The outer walls of the temple are carved with the scenes of Padma Purana and Pandava Purana. It also displays the scenes of Ram-Ravana battle and Kaurava-Pandava battle. Engravings of flowers and creepers, peacocks, animals, birds and the sixteen dreams of Tirthankar's mother are also depicted in the walls.
