Kamaksha Devi Temple




Kamaksha Devi Temple is situated at Kao, seven kilometers from Karsog in Mandi District, Himachal Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is believed that Goddess Durga killed Mahishasur (a demon in the form of a buffalo) here. Several buffaloes are sacrificed every year during the Navratri. The temple has stunning wood carvings of Pagoda-style architecture. Nearby tourist destionations include Shikari Devi Temple, Mahunag Temple, Mamaleshwar Temple, Shikari Peak, Kamru Nag Temple, Rohanda, Pangna Killa Temple, Barot, Karsog and Sundernagar. The temple can be accessed from Chindi (19 km.) Kullu Manali Airport at Bhuntar is the nearest airport and the nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar Railway Station .
