Kalpeni Islands

Kalpeni is one of the most beautiful islands of Lakshadweep. It comprises three uninhabited satellite islands named Tilakkam, Pitti and Cheriyam. The Arab writers called this island 'Koefaini.' It is one of the progressive islands in Lakshadweep. Kalpeni is surrounded by a lagoon of spectacular beauty. This lagoon is particularly rich in coral life. The huge storm bank of coral debris along the eastern and south-eastern shore is a peculiarity of this island. There is a small promontory at the northern end of Kalpeni Island called Kodithala. The area provides a number of activities such as kayaking, reef walking, sailing yachts, canoeing and snorkeling. Accommodation facilities are available in the Dak Bungalows and tourist huts with one or two bed rooms.
