Kalavagunta




Kalavagunta is situated about 8 km northeast of Chittoor. A major pilgrim center of Chittoor District, Kalavagunta houses the ancient temples of Mukkantisvara and Lakshminarayana. The temples are believed to have been constructed during the 9th century. Kalavagunta is located at the confluence of Aragonda and Ponnai rivers. Rudrapadam (Lord Shiva’s foot) is seen on a rock in the middle of the river. Tirupati is north of Kalavagunta.
