Kalarmulainathar Temple



Kalarmulainathar Temple is a Shivasthalam located on the southern banks of the river Pamani at Tirukkalar near Tiruvarur in Tamil Nadu. Spread over an area of 1.5 acres, the temple has 3 prakarams and pillared halls adding the beauty of the temple. At the entrance, there is a 150 foot high Rajagopuram. The temple deities are Lord Kallarmullainatheswarar and Goddess Illankombannal. The temple also has shrines for Valampiri Vinayakar and Subramanyar. The Shala Vriksham (sacred tree) is Pavalamalli and the teertham is Durvasa Teertham. Legend tells it that Natarajar blessed Durvasar with a vision of the cosmic dance at this place. Saint Sambandar is said to have contributed pathigams favouring the lord. The temple can be accessed from Tiruthuraipoondi railway station which is 15 km away.
