Kalaketti

Kalaketti is a sacred place located about 10 km from Perur Thodu in Kottayam District. It is believed that Lord Shiva, came on his vehicle (ox) and tied it at this place, and witnessed Lord Ayyappa killing Mahishi. The tree where the ox was tied can still be found here and the place is named after this incident.

The main attraction of the place is a Shiva Temple. The pilgrims light camphor and break coconuts as their offering to the god. Pilgrims take here on their way to Sabarimala.
