Located in
Cachar District, Kalian lies 35 km north-west of
Silchar. It is to the east of Baragata, Craigpark in the north,
Borkhola in the east and Badarpur and Bhanga in the south. Places of worth seeing include tea gardens, brick industries, Masimpur Army Brigade Headquarters.
Kalain is well connected by road with Silchar which starts on National Highway 53 at Silchar on Silchar-Badarpur Road and ends on National Highway 44 on Shillong-Badarpur Road at Kalain.
Badarpur Junction Railway Station, situated in Karimganj District, is the nearest railhead.
