Kala Bhavanam Residency, an artist retreat, is situated on the outskirts of
Kumarakodi near
Thottapally in
Alappuzha District. It is a 200-year-old tharavadu, a traditional wooden Kerala building, set in 2 acres of lush tropical gardens.
Accommodation features a traditional main house with 6 double bedrooms some en suite. It can accommodate up to 14 artists and has several painting and work areas. There are hammocks and a barbecue and open fire area. The residency also offers traditional ayurvedic treatments in association with Sanjeevani Ayurveda Hospital and Research Institute.
Harippad Railway station and Cochin International Airport are the nearest railhead and airport respectively.
