Kahika Fair




Kahika is an important fair whose story is related to the local deities. It is celebrated at Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh and lasts for three days.

A lot of interesting folk tales are associated with this fair. Once there lived a character named Nada in the area, who defied the Brahmanical priests. In order to the goodwill of the local deities, Nada, along with his wife, performed sacrificial Yagnas. People in the area hold this couple in high esteem, and still continues to perform rituals for them.

Kahika dance played during the fair is very popular.
