Kagyat Dance

Kagyat Dance is performed by the monks in the palace monastery compound. It is conducted on every 28th and 29th day of the 10th month of the Tibetan calendar, two days prior to Losoong (the Sikkimese New Year). The dance symbolizes the destruction of the forces of evil and is interspersed with comic relief provided by the jesters. Prayers are offered by the monks inside the chapel prior to the dance.
