Kaalayum Kudayum

Kaalayum Kudayum is a dance form mainly performed by pulayar community. It is performed after the harvest. Images of oxen and horses are made out of bamboo and forest twigs and clad in white clothes. Umbrellas of five to seven storeys are also similarly made and adorned with tender coconut fronds and flowers. These are carried around from house to house. The bearers execute a very simple dance, moving the legs to the left and right, front and back.
