Ka Bam Khana Shnong

Ka Bam Khana Shnong, a community feasting festival, is performed by the Khasis in Meghalaya. During the festival the villagers pray to the Lord for an auspicious new year. The feast is made rich with succulent pork preparations. A colorful ceremony of bringing wholesome pigs by pony cart, decorated with colorful paper streamers and escorted by a group of musicians playing drums and pipes, is the highlight of the festival.

The actual location of this feasting is usually a playground or a hill-slope, a short distance away from the village. After starting the feast women, children and the elderly are served first.
