Junagarh

Junagarh is the erstwhile capital of ex-State of Kalahandi, situated about 26 km west of Bhawanipatna on National Highway 201, in Kalahandi District, Orissa. It was a well built fort; the fortified area has a number of temples with Oriya inscriptions. Sati Pillars, a sculptural evidence of Sati, a custom which was prevalent in medieval India, is found in this place.
