Joranda Mela

Joranda Mela, popularly known as Mahima Mela, is one of the most important spiritual events of Orissa. It is an annual fair celebrated at Joranda in Dhenkanal District of Orissa. The fair continues for 3 days, which begins on the day of Purnima, full moon day, in the month of Magh (January-February). People from all over Orissa and the neighboring states unite here to participate in the fair. Most of the devotees are sanyasins of the Mahima sector.

Mahima Gosain's Samadhi Pitha is worshipped on the occasion. An important ceremony for promoting the Bairagi to Apara Sanyasi (superior caste of disciples) takes place during this fair.
