Located on the banks of the Kamla-Balan River, Jhanjharpur is a small town of Madhubani District of Bihar. It is 23 km to the south-east of Madhubani.

Kamla-Balan River, which is a fusion of two rivers Kamla and Balan, serves this town. It becomes a curse to the town, when it floods in July.

Jhanjharpur Purani Bazar and Jhanjharpur (R.S) Market (New Market) are the most prominent business centers in the town. Pancha Nath Mahadev Temple, Shanthi Nath Mahadev Temple and Kali Mandir are pilgrim spots in the neighborhood.

Nearest airport is at Patna, is 200 km south-west.
The town has its own railhead, Jhanjharpur Railway Station, which is on the Darbhanga-Nirmali rail route.
