Jhamatpur is the birth place of Krishna Dasa Kaviraja Goswami. The place is of religious importance. There is a worship place of the deities Gaura-Nityananda, which was installed by Sri Kaviraja Goswami.
There is an interesting story related to this place. Once Abhirama Goswami was talking about the glories of Nityananda here then Sriman Kettamin Dasa, the elder brother of Krishna Dasa Kaviraja, spoke disrespectfully about Nityananda Prabhu. Abhirama Goswami took this as an insult and left the place. That night Lord Nityananda came in Krishna Dasa Kaviraja’s dream and told him to go back to
Vrindavan.
