Jethian

Jethian is a historic village associated with Lord Buddha. Located close to Rajgir in Nalanda District, Jethian was the religious seat of Jayasena, a great saint of the 17th century.

Buddha first met with King Bimbisara at Jethian, which was popularly known as Lativana. Hiuen Tsang, the Chinese traveler, is said to have stayed here along with Jayasena. A beautiful mound named Chandu Hill is situated 3 km north of Jethian. The magnificent statues of Buddha and Padmapani lie nearby. By road, Jethian is accessible from the mountains at Rajgir, traveling through Gaya-Rajgir road. Patna Airport is the nearest airport.
