Jarag Fair

Jarag Fair is a prominent fair, held at Jarag village, in Ludhiana District of Punjab. It falls in the lunar month of Chet (March-April). Also known as Baheria Fair, Jarag Fair is held in honor of Goddess Seetla - the goddess of small pox. Special sweets known as gurgulas are made as offerings to the goddess and thereafter to the donkey who is her favorite. Pujas are also performed on this occasion. The highlight of the fair is the colorfully dressed donkeys, with bells or conch shells and beads around the neck.
