Jami Masjid




Jami Masjid (also Jamek Masjid), built in the year 1576 by Akbar, is situated at Fatehpur Sikri in Agra District of Uttar Pradesh.

The masjid was built in commemoration of Sheikh Salim Christi, a Sufi. It houses the tomb of Sheikh Salim Christi and can accommodate ten thousand men for prayer. The masjid is approachable through Buland Darwaza. Inscriptions from the Quran is found on the archway of the sandstone memorial.
