Jainsem

Jainsem is a traditional costume worn by the women belonging to the Khasi and Khynrium tribes.

It consists of two unstitched pieces of checkered cotton cloth, measuring about two yards in length. Both ends of this costume are tied at one shoulder giving it an appearance of an apron. This costume hangs loose till the ankles. A blouse is worn underneath the Jainsem.
