Jain Temples at Tirupparuthikkundram




Tirupparuthikkundram village is situated on the banks of Palar River. There are many Jain temples at Tirupparuthikkundram in Kanchipuram District. These temples of the Jaina Tirthankars date back to the 9th century AD. There are large number of fresco paintings and a grand image of Bhagvan Mahavir in these temples. Chandraprabh, an ancient Teerthankar is the main deity in one of the temples. It is believed that the place was given to the Jains in the 5th century by Simha Vishnu and his queen. These temples are now under the control of Archeological Department of Tamil Nadu.
