An internationally acclaimed Assamese film-maker, Jahnu Barua has gifted several hits such as 'Aparoopa,' 'Papori,' and 'Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khaj' to the film world . His films are noted for their unique portrayal of contemporary culture and politics of Assam. Barua is a recipient of the Padmashree.
