Jahanghir’s Hauz

Jahanghir’s Hauz is a circular bowl-shaped monolithic tank located in the courtyard of the Jahangiri Mahal, a beautiful palace within the Agra Fort. Built in 1611 by Jahangir, the tank is five feet high, eight feet in diameter and twenty five feet in circumference at the rim.

This huge bowl has three steps on both the inside and outside. These steps show that the tank has always been above ground and could be transported. The ten ornamental cartouches on the outside of the rim bear Persian inscriptions.

Agra Fort stands near the gardens of the Taj Mahal. Agra Fort Bus Station and Agra Fort Railway Station are the nearest bus station and railhead.
