Jageshwar

Located on the Nainital–Pithoragarh Road and 35 km north-east of Almora, Jageshwar is a pilgrim town perched at an altitude of 1,900 meters. A temple complex with more than 124 shrines - built between 8th and 18th centuries - is the prime attraction of this place. Lord Shiva is the main deity here. The archaeological museum (open from 10 am till 4 pm), located close to the temple complex, displays unique idols and exquisite carvings found in and around Jageshwar. An annual fair is held at the complex in Shravan (July-August), one of the months in the North Indian Hindu Calendar. Jageshwar is easily accessible from Nainital and Almora. Nainital is 100 km southwest of Jageshwar. Kathgodam Railway Station is 135 km away.
