Jadeja is a major and wide spread clan of Chandravamsi Rajputs
mainly inhabiting in Gujarat
. They have influenced the history of Gujarat from ancient times. Jadejas are descended from a prince named Narpat.
According to legend, Narpat was hidden in a ‘jada’, by Hingalaj Mataji, when he and his brothers were fleeing from the Muslim invader Nabi Muhammad, and hence were named Jadeja. Narpat later established his kingdom at Gazni, in Afghanistan, and his descendants later migrated to Kutch, in the north of Gujarat through Sindh and eastern Rajasthan.
Jadejas held their hold all over Kutch and spread to central Saurashtra and established their kingdoms at Jamnagar, Rajkot, Gondal and
Morbi. The Jadeja Rajputs are currently most wide spread over the land of Saurashtra and Kutch.
