Irumudikettu




Devotees, who take the pilgrimage journey to Sabarimala, carry ‘Irumudikettu’ (bundle with offerings to Ayyappa) on their head. Irumudi is a cloth bag tied into two portions consisting of rice, a coconut filled with ghee, coins and other ingredients of worship. It is customary that one need to climb the mountain ranges and cross the forest bare footed, keeping the Irumudikettu on his head.
