Institute of Technology




Institute of Technology, affliated to the Banaras Hindu University, is one of the oldest and largest educational institutions in northern India. It is located on the banks of river Ganga in the holy city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It was founded by Madan Mohan Malviya in 1916. IT was formerly known as BENCO (Banaras Engineering College) and celebrated its Platinum Jubilee in 1994. IT-BHU offers under graduate and graduate level courses in almost all fields. The Institute of Technology has a Main Library adjacent to the I.T. Directorate (administrative block) on a floor area of about 1,400 sq m including three big halls which have recently been added. The Institute has so far produced about 21,400 B.Tech. graduates, 2,650 M. Techs and 650 Doctoral degree holders.
