Institute of Islamic Studies (IIS) was founded in 1980 at
Santa Cruz, in
Mumbai Suburban District,
Maharashtra. It stands for interpreting Islamic values as stated in the Quran. The institute highlights the fundamental Islamic values of justice, equality, peace, compassion, freedom of conscience, inter-faith understanding and wisdom through its various writings, publications, seminars and other events. Institute of Islamic Studies hosts inter-faith dialogues to foster inter-faith harmony. Various events are conducted to promote women's rights.
