A voluntary organization in
Thane, Institute for Oriental Study strives for the promotion of Indian culture, history, civilization, and
Sanskrit language. It conducts seminars, tutorials, discussions, exhibitions, slide and film shows and study tours to historical places and cultural centers. There is a library with over 3,000 Sanskrit manuscripts and 15,000 rare books in English and
Marathi.
