Indian Institute of Vegetable Research




Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR), Varanasi, functions under the control of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It undertakes basic, strategic and applied research to enhance the production of vegetable crops.

IIVR conducts experiments in crop improvement, bio-technology, crop production, crop protection, seed production, and resource management. It organizes training for farmers and provides improved production technologies. The institute has developed new open pollinated varieties of spinach, amaranth, garlic, carrot (Asiatic and European types), radish (Asiatic and European types), cabbage, cauliflower, bluster beans, French bean, pea, snake gourd, bitter gourd, Winter squash, cucumber, watermelon, and capsicum (bell pepper.)
