It was built by Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah as a summer cottage or 'Baradari' - literally meaning 'having 12 doorways'. The gallery houses the life size portraits of all Nawabs of Oudh. It is open on all days from 08:00 to 17:00 hrs.

Adjacent to this gallery is the Hussainabad Clock Tower. This 67 m high gothic tower, built in 1887, has the largest clock in India.
