Hurkia Baul Dance

Hurkia Baul is among the well known folk dances of India. It is a social dance native to Uttar Pradesh. This dance is performed during the paddy and maize cultivation.

Hurkia Baul derived its name from a drum ‘Hurka’ and the song ‘Baul.’ It is performed in different fields by turns. During the performance, the singer portrays a story of battle and heroic deeds, and performers enact the stories in a sequence of movements.
