Hooghly Collectorate

Hooghly Collectorate is an ancient building built in the late 18th century. It was originally built as barracks for Dutch soldiers. It has many spacious rooms. For secret loading and unloading of boats, there were tunnels to the river. The western rooms on the ground floor are said to have been used earlier as elephant lines. What is now known as Circuit House, once quartered the Dutch officers.

Hooghly is a historic town located 41 km north of Kolkata. Hooghly lies on the suburban train network from Howrah.
