Historical Fort of Surat




Constructed in the year 1540-41 by Khudawand Khan, the fort of Surat is in the Surat District of Gujarat. It is situated on the banks of Tapti River, adjacent to Hope Bridge. The fort was built to protect the city from foreign invaders. The walls of the fort have a width of around 5 m. Nowadays, several government offices function in the premises of this fort.
