High Court of Gujarat was established in 1960 as a result of the separation of the former state of Bombay into two states of Maharashtra and Gujarat. It started functioning near Akashwani at Navrangpura in Ahmedabad. Later on 16th January 1999, the high court was shifted to the new building at Sola in Ahmedabad.
