Spread over three acres of lush green garden with all kinds of trees, bamboos, ferns and orchids, Hidden Forest Retreat is 2 km from the main town of Gangtok. It is situated at an altitude of 4,500 ft above sea level. It has 8 spacious double bedrooms and a well-stocked library.
Each room has a modern attached bathroom and running hot and cold water. You can enjoy an unobstructed panoramic view of surrounding rolling hills, terraced fields, wildlife and Rumtek Monastery from the sit-out. Meals are served at its dining hall. In the evening, they serve Chaang (an alcoholic beverage made from millet). The retreat is an extension of the flower nursery which specializes in tissue culture, breeding Orchids and lilies.
Hidden Forest Retreat is around 124 km from Civil Enclave Bagdogra. New Jalpaiguri Railway Station in West Bengal is the closest railhead, which is around 125 km from Gangtok.
