Celebrated by each Zemi village, the Heleibambe Festival is held in mid April. The main purpose of the festival is to appease the crop god 'Suhprai'. It is celebrated according to the convenience of the villagers prior to the starting of '
Jhum' cultivation. When the monsoon is set on the first day-Tingkupeu, the village priest sacrifices a buffalo for the appeasement of Suhprai and then the meat of that animal is distributed among villagers.
On the second day the boys and girls sing and dance in the village street and in front of each household. The boys and girls distribute plantain leaves to all households.
