Hatkeswar Mahadev Temple

Hatkeswar Mahadev Temple, one of the famous Shiva temples in Gujarat, is located in Vadnagar, about 34 km northeast of Mehsana. This 15th century temple, enclosed by a high wall, has fine carvings and three circular domes. A huge pinnacle that rises from the roof of the sanctum provides a unique architectural style to the temple. The exterior is adorned with the images of the nine planets and scenes from the life of Pandava princes and Lord Krishna. A large congregation hall has been built for the benefit of the devotees. An ancient Kasivisweswara Shiva Temple and a Swaminarayan Temple, located in the premises, are worth visiting. Apart from this, there are two Jain temples in the temple premises. Nearest railhead is at Mehsana and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is located about 115 km from here.
