Haritalika




Haritalika is a harvest festival of Maharashtra celebrated prior to Ganesh Chaturthi. Dedicated to golden Goddess of harvest Harita Gauri, the festival is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm at the end of the monsoon month, Bhadrapad.

During the festival women wear green clothes, bangles and golden bindis. They also fast till the rituals are completed. Beautifully decoated coconuts are distributed to the female friends and relations. Fresh fruits and green vegetables are offered to the Goddess. The main treat of the festival is the tender coconut water.
