Harischandra Ghat

Located in Varanasi, Harischandra Ghat is one of the two burning ghats, another being Manikarnika Ghat. It was made pucca in 1740 by Narayana Dikshit, a saint.

This ghat got its name from King Harischandra, who worked as a cemetery-keeper here. It is considered sacred to cremate the bodies here.

The images of Harischandresvara, Rohitesvara, Adi Manikarnikesvara and Vriddha Kedara are enshrined in the temples within the ghat.
