Gurpur River

Gurpur River is chief river among the streams that rise in the Western Ghats and flows in Karnataka. The city of Mangalore is situated at the confluence of two rivers the Netravati and Gurpur.

The Gurpur has historical importance in the regard that Tipu Sultan had built Sultan Battery, a miniature fortress on the banks of this river to prevent the entrance of warships.
