Gurphug Monastery




Gurphug Monastery is situated at Leh, in Jammu and Kashmir. It is about 15 km from Leh and one kilometer from Stok Palace.

This religious residence is a branch of Spituk Monastery. On the 9th and 10th days of the first month of Tibetan Lunar Calendar (February-March), a festival called ‘Guru Tsechu’ is conducted here. The specialty of the monastery is that the monks of Spituk monastery perform sacred dances during this festival. Devotees throng in large numbers at this time.

For local transport, taxis and jeeps are available from Leh.
