Narasimnath Temple



Gundicha Temple, also known as Narasimnath Temple, is a highly revered shrine at Sonpur, in Orissa. It is about 80 ft high and is regarded as one of the highest monument in Sonpur. The temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimnath. Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra are worshipped here during the annual car festival.

Gundicha Temple was built by Gundicha Devi to commemorate the birth of his son Niladri Singh. A colossal statue of Lord Narasimnath, installed in the sanctum of the temple, was built by King Prithiraj Singhdeo.

Balangir Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
