Gulbarga Jumma Masjid

Gulbarga Jumma Masjid, built by Feroze Shah, is a huge structure situated within the ramparts of Gulbarga Fort. Covering an area of about 38016 sq ft, the masjid resembles the great mosque of Cardova in Spain. It is the only one of its kind in the entire country.

The mosque conforms to the Persian style of architecture. It has four shapely domes at the four corners. The mosque also has a beautiful 'mihrab' covered by a heavy curtain and topped by an elegant onion dome. A unique feature of the masjid is the roof covering the entire courtyard.

Several tombs of the Bahmani Sultans can be sighted nearby. Gulbarga Railway Station, on the Mumbai-Bangalore main line, is the nearest railhead.
