Griddhakuta Hill

Vulture's Peak

Griddhakuta Hill, also known as Vulture's peak, is the most important place in Rajgir. It was here that the Buddha started his second wheel of law and delivered some of the important sermons to his followers. Atop of the hill, there is a large stupa called Shanti Stupa or Peace Pagoda which was constructed by the Buddhists of Japan. One can reach the top using an aerial chairlift, which takes about seven minutes.
